Walks

There is an easy walk from the tree house to our beaches, simply take the steps down that start between the caretaker house and the tree house next to the very large tree. The walk takes about 15 minutes. As you get to the bottom you turn right for Matapalo beach, left for Backwash and Pan Dulce.

The King Louis waterfall is a 30 minutes walk that begins at the stairs descending to the beaches. Take the road to the right and you will find the sign post that takes you up the river.

The Lapa Rios waterfall is a 45 minutes walk  that begins at the stairs descending to the beaches. At the bottom turn left and walk to the main street. Once you hit the main road, turn right until you get to the bridge and follow the river upstream.

Getting There

You drive from Puerto Jimenez in the direction of Karate for about 45 minutes on the 245. At some point you will see a turn-off to the left to Matapalo, which you do not take but continue straight ahead. On the right there is a wooden sign for the hotel “Lapa Rios”, you will also drive past it. Then after about 1.5km there is a green metal gate on the left side, next to it is a wooden sign with our logo (orange jaguar head), there you turn and drive straight ahead on this road for almost 2km, it goes steeply downhill in parts.

The first turnoff to the right is not Punta Jaguar, its our neighbor Tres Palmas. Further along there is another wooden sign on the right with our logo, you turn in and you’ve arrived. Then get in touch with Didier, he is our caretaker.
